My first fanfic. Please don’t hold back any opinions you have against this. Criticism is good. It will help me not to do certain things in the future. If it is lame, say it. If it sucks, say it. If its boring, say it. This is just something I did in my spare time anyway..Apart from that, Enjoy =].
Book 4: Air
Chapter 1: The Fire Nation Palace
~Boom!~
Aang was on the ground. Fire Lord Ozai walked up to him, and prepared for the final blow. You could see the grin on his face. He was happy, that after all this time, he would be the one to kill the Avatar. The Fire Nation will rule the world. As Ozai released a final and powerful blast of lightning, he was hit on the head by a meteor sword. Ozai fell to the ground, and Sokka went towards the almost dead Aang. As Sokka tended to Aang’s wounds, he was hit hard by a deadly fire blast. SOKKA NO!! With the power of the Sozan’s comet in Ozai’s hands, he smiled, and hit Aang’s heart with a fire blast that he had never seen before.
“Aang? Aang? Wake up!”
Aang was confused. As he opened his eyes, he saw a relieved Katara happy to see that Aang was ok.
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I had the same nightmare again.”
After defeating the Fire Lord, Aang would have been happy, but he was severely injured, and wasn’t awake long enough to see Fire Lord Ozai die.
“Oh. That nightmare huh? You know, you’re still very tense, and haven’t settled down since the Fire Lord was defeated. Everything is ok now. Ozai is no longer Fire Lord. Iroh is. But he said he wouldn’t have his coronation until you were ok too come and see it.”
“I know, but I just can’t. I killed someone Katara. I know I was destined to kill him from the beginning, but it just feels wrong. I have gone against my beliefs as a monk.”
“But you’re the Avatar, Aang. Killing Ozai was the only way to restore balance. You did your job as the Avatar. You helped restore balance to the world.”
“I guess your right.”
Katara leaned down towards him, and gave Aang a kiss.
“Have some rest Aang. We have a lot to do once you’re fully awake.”
“Is he ok?” Iroh asked Katara.
“No, he still feels bad because he killed someone. But I’m sure that he will ok after a short nap.”
Iroh nodded.
“Then I will arrange to have my ceremony in a couple of days.”
“That should be fine.”
In the mountains, Zuko and Mai were having a picnic. They were happy to see each other again.
“It’s a relief that they didn’t do anything terrible to you in that prison. How could Azula do that to you anyway? I thought she was your best friend...”
“Yeah, it is a big relief. Thank god you came to save me and Ty Lee. I love you even more now.”
With that said, the both of them were kissing like there was no tomorrow.
Back in his room, Aang was now awake, and his worries were gone. He got up, and went to look for Katara. On the way, he bumped into Toph.
“Twinkletoes, your awake! I was just going to see you.”
“Hey Toph. I was looking for Katara. Know where she is?”
“No, this place is huge. I still don’t know where everything is.”
“Really? Is this the Fire Nation Palace?”
“Yes, of course it is. Where else would it be?”
“Oh, right. I knew that. Well, want to go look for Katara?”
“Sure, ok”
As they both walked down the corridor, they saw Iroh sitting down with an artist in his Fire Lord clothes getting his painting done.
“Aang! How was your nap?”
“It was good thanks, Fire Lord Iroh”
“Haha, just call me Iroh. Oh, I am having my coronation in a couple of days. I hope that you can come along”
“Yeah, of course I’m going to come along. Well, I have to get going. See you later!”
“Bye.”
They continued to walk down the hallway. As they reached the end, they realized that they were lost and went back to find Iroh to ask him where Katara would be.
In a cave not very far from the Palace City, the former Fire Nation princess is feeling very sad. She has failed. Soon after the announcement that Iroh was to be Fire Lord, he banished Azula for one year. He said she needs to learn how to be a normal person. Only then could she return and be the royal princess. But Azula didn’t want to return to the Fire Nation. She couldn’t even show her face there. She wanted the Fire Nation for herself, but she knew that she couldn’t do it. After coming to a final conclusion, she decided that she would go back to the palace and apologize to everybody. Just as she was almost at the Palace City, she stops for a moment, and thinks, “This isn’t like me. What am I thinking.?” She decides that before she makes any rash decisions that she goes back and thinks carefully about what she is going to do with her life now.
At the Fire Nation Palace, Iroh told Aang and Toph that Katara was at the pond. So they both went to the pond to find Katara sitting by the pond feeding the turtle-ducks.
“Aang! Your awake! How was your nap? Didn’t have any nightmares did you?”
“Nope. Not one. This place is huge! I couldn’t find you.”
“Oh, really? Well you’ve found me now.”
“Haha, yeah. I think I need a map to get around this place. Do they need to make a palace this big?”
“Haha.. Well.. You can ask Iroh if you need one. Anyway, Iroh decided that since you’re ok now, that he has his coronation.”
“Oh, that’s great! I’m too lazy to do anything else today..”
Outside the palace, every citizen of the Fire Nation stood before the Fire Nation Royal Family, the Avatar and his friends. The sages went up to Iroh.
“Do you, general Iroh accept the title of Fire Lord?”
“Yes, I accept it”
“People of the Fire Nation. After all these years, the great Dragon of the West is now in his rightful position. All hail Fire Lord Iroh.”
There was a cheer, then everyone bowed before him.
“Ok. I would like to say a few things.”
“Of course, Fire Lord”
“First, I would like to officially thank Avatar Aang and his friends for defeating Ozai. You people may not realize it, but our past family members have changed this world into something that is not Fire Nation at all. Over the next few months, I will make a lot of changes. These changes are also going to be made to everybody. I have no children to be my successor, but I name Prince Zuko to be my successor. After I die, he will take my place. In a few weeks, the Avatar will be leaving with his friends to the South Pole. You will not see him after that for a while. So make the most of having the Avatar in the Fire Nation now. And honour him for his glory” Everyone cheered. Katara looked at Aang.
“I’m proud of you Aang. You regained your honour like you said you would. I care about you so much Aang. When I told you how I felt all those months ago, I knew that I was doing the right thing.”
“Thanks Katara.”
After saying those words to him, Katara went towards Aang and gave him a kiss.
“Would you guys stop it? We’re in a public place here,” Zuko said to them.
“It’s not like you can talk..”
“…”
Aang saw an argument coming, so he decided to ruin their conversation.
“Zuko, its just a kiss. And besides, everyone has left now. There’s nothing to worry about. Its been a long day. Why don’t you go to bed?”
“You can’t tell me.. Ah, fine. I’ll go to bed.” “Stupid Avatar. Stupid innocent look. Why do you have to look at me like that all the time...”
They all went back to palace to sleep.
